XaaS is an abbreviation in which the letter ‘X’ stands for Anything-as-a-Service, and the abbreviation stands for Anything-as-a-Service. In other words, XaaS is a model for providing any service that can be provided using cloud technologies. Such services include SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, CaaS, DBaaS and many others.
XaaS is the result of the evolution of networking and, by extension, cloud services. Initially, companies in need of information technology had to invest in their own hardware and incur maintenance costs. With the development of cloud services, it became obvious that in many cases it is more profitable to outsource IT services.
The first stage of such changes was SaaS (Software as a Service) solutions, when it became possible to use software products via the Internet. Then came PaaS and IaaS, which gave access to platforms and ready-made infrastructures, respectively. With the current development of cloud technologies, almost any service related to the organisation of infrastructure or the use of software can be provided remotely through the cloud.
