Common Internet File System (CIFS)

CIFS is a network protocol that enables file sharing. In particular, it allows programs to use files located on remote servers for work, which, in turn, allows users to interact with any files in the Internet.

The protocol provides a wide range of options for manipulating the file: view, edit, lock and other various actions. CIFS network protocol is supported by the absolute majority of modern operating systems, which makes it a convenient tool for exchange in various networks and environments.
