Hyperscaler

Hyperscalers are large-scale data centers that serve as the infrastructure base for major cloud service providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and others.

Hyperscalers are huge in size and capable of serving hundreds of millions of users simultaneously. Another important difference is their ability to scale capacity on demand. Hyperscaler management systems are able to distribute high-performance computing tasks across multiple physical machines and thereby optimize load.

Traditional data centers are typically centralized systems with a smaller number of more powerful physical machines. As a result, scaling is more often accomplished through hardware upgrades. Hyperscalers scale capacity by adding additional physical machines to the system.
