A model of information service delivery in which a vendor provides these services to a business. The service provider can be either an internal IT department of a company or an external contractor. Information technology under the IT as a Service model is provided as managed service with a set of specific options and pricing. For example, large cloud providers may offer dedicated servers, development environments and software products to the client as a turnkey solution.
Due to this, ITaaS is often referred to in the context of cloud service provision. For example, the IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS models can be considered a special case of ITaaS, but the IT as a Service model is broader. Companies that provide services for data center relocation, repair or configuration on the client’s premises can also formally classify their activities as IT as a Service.
