Virtual data center is a set of cloud resources for creating a standalone enterprise-level IT infrastructure. Resources for vDC are processors, disk drives, RAM and networks, on the basis of which virtual machines are created and run.
The concept of virtual data center is often identified with the concept of virtual (cloud) infrastructure (IaaS). The client receives a system that is functionally similar to the physical system in the local data center.
vDC is managed via a web interface: the client can create new virtual machines, change network parameters, organize backup, etc.
Advantages of a virtual data center are the ability to quickly scale resources, high availability and fault tolerance. Disadvantages: virtual data center is provided as a service on a rent basis, so its use is most often unprofitable in the long term.
