Desktop as a Service (DaaS) is a cloud service that allows user to get a turnkey desktop with a set of all necessary software for work. DaaS differs from a regular desktop in that all software is installed not on the user’s physical hardware, but in the cloud. You can connect to the virtual desktop only if you have access to the Internet. Connection is possible not only from a personal computer, but also from a laptop, tablet, smartphone, and other mobile devices.
A standard DaaS software package usually includes an operating system, one or more Internet browsers, a text editor, various applications for reading certain file formats, such as archive programs and a PDF editor. It is possible to install additional software.
Desktop as a Service usually needs to be paid once a month at a fixed rate. The service provider is fully responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and stability of the desktop.
